1. Danyang – Kunshan Grand Bridge – China

Completed Year – 2010
Length –  540,700 ft.
Danyang–Kunshan Grand Rail Bridge is considered the longest bridge in the world and ranked at first on this list. The name of this bridge is included in the Guinness book of the world records because of its length which is more than 164,800 m (540,700 ft.). The construction of the bridge was started in 2006 and completed in 2010. It located on the railway line between Nanjing and Shangai in east China province Jiangsu and crossed many beautiful lakes, canals, and rivers. As its name indicates, it spreads through the northern edge of population centres beginning in Danyang, Changzhou, Wuxi, Suzhou and ending in Kunshan. Nine-kilometer section of the bridge occupies the open water. This bridge opened to traffic in 2011 and 10,000 people took part in the construction of the bridge.


2. Changhua – Kaohsiung Viaduct – Taiwan

Completed Year – 2007
Length – 516,132 ft.
The world second largest bridge is located in Taiwan and also a railway bridge. It measures about 157.317 m long (516,132 ft.) and comprises some portion of Taiwan high-speed rail system. The first time the bridge was opened in 2007, and in December 2012 it carried over 200 million passengers.

3. Tianjin Grand Bridge – China

Length – 373,000 ft.
Tianjin Grand Bridge is the world 3rd largest longest bridge and also located in China. It is a railway viaduct bridge and starts to build in 2006. This railway viaduct bridge is a part of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail and situated between Qingxian and Langfang. It had been completed in 2010 but opened for people after verification in 2011.

4. WeinanWeihe Grand Bridge – China

Length – 261,588 ft.
The WeinanWeihe Grand Bridge also situated in one of the most wonderful and beautiful countries of world China. The total length of the bridge measured about 79,732m, and it completed in 2008. It is part of High-Speed Railway Zhengzhou–Xi’an which connects Zhengzhou and Xi’an, in China. The amazing thing is that it crosses many rivers, railways, and highways but crossing the Wei river twice. The bridge was opened first time for public in 2010 after two years of completion.

5. Bang Na Expressway – Thailand

Length – 177,000 ft.
Bang Na Expressway is the longest bridge in the world until 2010 with length 54,000 m. Today it is ranked at number 5th in this list. It located in Thailand and six-lanes elevated highway in Thailand. This bridge is 27 meters wide and connects the national highway of this country. It was complete in 2010 after combined efforts of America and Asia engineers and possessed by Expressway Authority of Thailand.


6. Beijing Grand Bridge – China

This bridge located in the beautiful city of China, Beijing and this name  was given to it in the name of the city. It is about 48,153 m long railway viaduct on Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway. The construction of the bridge was completed in 2010 and opened in 2011. The primary purpose of Beijing grand bridge is to accommodate high-speed trains.

Lake Pontchartrain Causeway was the longest bridge of its time and includes its name in the Guinness book of world records. Sometimes it is called Causeway. It composed of two parallel bridges which crossing the Lake Pontchartrain in south Louisiana, United States. The southern terminal of the bridge situated in Metairie, Louisiana and a suburb of new Orleans and the north terminus is in Mandeville, Louisiana.  It is about 38,442 m long and supported by 9500 pillars. At the start of the 20th century, the proposal to build the bridge came but construction started after many years. It is the oldest and still longest bridge after 47 years still.

Manchac Swamp Bridge is the second largest bridge of United Sates located in Louisiana State. It is also the longest bridge over water too. It is twin concrete trestle bridge and carries Interstate 55 over the Manchac Swamp in Louisiana and represents one-third of highways almost 66 miles in Louisiana. The first time it opened for public un 1979 and contains 40 minutes’ drive. So the cost of the bridge per mile is 7 million and longest toll-free bridge of the world.

Yangcun Bridge 35,812 m long bridge built in China in 2007.  Its construction started in 2003, and the purpose of its development is to accommodate the high-speed train. Yangcun was opened in 2008 and has the record of world fastest train track of the world. This bridge reduced the distance of people of 30 to 70 minutes and speed of the train on this bridge is 350km per hour. According to reports, the second phase of the bridge is under construction because it is high useful for China people.

10. Hangzhou Bay Bridge – China

Hangzhou Bay Bridge ranked at number 10 on this list. It is located in China, a country of longest bridges. Many longest bridges including in this list are present in China. The bridge connects the Ningbo andJiaxing in Zhejiang province. Its development completed in 2007, and a ceremony was held to inaugurate the bridge, but for public, it opened in 2008. This bridge is a blessing for China people because it shortened the highway distance between Shanghai and Ningbo from 400 km to 180 km and also reduced travel time from 4 to 2 hours.
